Relive the traditions and Mughal stories of the 13th century through this walk. After the arrival of the fourth greatest sufi saint of the chishtiya order, Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya, the place came to be known as Hazrat Nizamuddin. With continuous habitation since then, the Nizamuddin area became one of Delhi’s oldest Settlement. The Basti is also known for its rich culture, anecdotes, traditions and festivals. One of the oldest and renowned tradition is Pigeon flying. The Pigeon flying tradition came through the Mughals in India and continued since then in the Basti hazrat Nizamuddin.
Aamir Ahmed & Rashid Siddiqui are Coordinator and experienced walk leaders of self help group, Sair-E-Nizamuddin which Conducts Heritage walk in Hazrat Nizamuddin Basti, Humanyu’s tomb and Abdur Rahim Khna-i- Khana’s Tomb.
Sair-e-Nizamuddin Self-Help Group (SeN) is a volunteer organization formed to promote the cultural heritage and cultivate awareness of the rich heritage of Nizamuddin. Organized and trained under the Aga Khan Trust for Culture, the members of the group carry out Heritage walks around Humayun's Tomb, Abdul Rahim Khan-i-Khan's Tomb, and the Hazrat Nizamuddin Basti. The members of this group belong to the Basti and take great pride in presenting more than 750 year old Basti to tourists and school children.
