Let’s go birdwatching: Urban wetland


Okhla Bird Sanctuary in Noida is known as a haven for 300 bird species especially water birds. Every year hundreds of migratory birds from North Indian states,Siberia and South East Asia make this sanctuary their home for winters. This walk will enable the bird enthusiasts to not just watch the migratory waterfowl but also learn about them. Birds we could see on the walk-Northern Shoveller,Pintail,Tufted Duck Common Redshank, Greater Flamingos and many more. This walk is a must for bird watchers and nature addicts!

Nikhil Devasar, is an experienced bird watcher. He revived the Delhi Bird Club which now has over 3000 committed bird watchers.  Nikhil has spearheaded many of the group’s conservation efforts.He also organizes a census of  Delhi’s birdlife through the “Big Bird Day”. His expertise has resulted in the publication of several books, and his photographs are regularly featured in Indian and foreign nature magazines and publications. 

Sanjay Tiwari got hooked to birds and birding ever since he first visited Keoladev National Park, Bharatpur in mid nineties. He has since travelled to different parts of the world as a bird enthusiast and gained experience in bird watching. He organises nature walks for adults and children helping them familiarise with not just the birds but with the trees and butterflies as well.

Meeting point: Kalindi Kunj Park Parking

Tips: wear comfortable walking shoes and please carry a bottle of water.

Extra costs: Entry ticket Rs 30 per person.
