Chawri Bazar remained a promenade street of old Delhi which had sprawling mansions of Tawaifs. The charm of these courtesans brought Kings, Nawabs, Poets and Sahibs to their doorsteps. On this walk we will try to identify last remaining symbols of Kothas (Bordellos) in Chawri Bazar and will unravel the phenomenal stories of celebrated Tawaifs such as Rupmati, Anarkali, Rana Dil, Lal Kunwar Nur Bai, Chamani Ram Jani, Uttam Bai, Firdaus Jan etc. This walk is an effort to correct widespread misunderstanding about Tawaif (Courtesans) culture and also understand what led to the downfall of this institution. Come join us to know it all about the courtesans of Delhi.
Walk leader Gaurav was born and brought up in Delhi. Having taken an Honours Degree in History from Dayal Singh College, University of Delhi and subsequently enhanced his passion by Completing INDIA: ART & CULTURE Certificate from National Museum Institute. His experience of working in Art Galleries gave him a fair idea of what Art Connoisseur look A short stint at khalsa College, St.Stephen's college and at Department of History in University of Delhi and long experience of researching on Historical personalities lent him enough credentials to narrate well researched Historical events as well as legends in English, Hindi & Hindustani.
