Introduction to Moths of Delhi, Sanjay Van


Sanjay Van is a sprawling forest area surrounding urban landscape, where we can find thickly wooded areas and effluent water discharge which provides excellent habitats for city moths. Like everybody else if you ever wondered as to why moths circled street lights then come join us on Delhi’s first night walk for months and for answers to many such questions.On our walk we are presenting an overnight moth appreciation station to encounter nocturnal moths to see their beauty and variety of different colors, size and shapes.

Dhruv Pal is an Education Officer of the CEC Delhi, BNHS,  Asia’s oldest NGO working in the field of nature conservation from last 133 years. He has worked on various ecology and species conservation projects throughout India and played a key role in declaration of Mandargiri-Kalima Reserve Forest as Orissa’s first state Biodiversity site. He has recently worked  as a Research Assistant for compiling the book “First garden of the Republic” on Floral and Faunal diversity of President estate and Mughal Garden.

Meeting point: Entry Gate of Sanjay Van, Near TB Hospital (Lado Sarai) on Aurobindo Marg

Tips: A dress code for the event is to wear dull colored clothes, adorn a sun cap if required, wear proper field shoes, a water bottle and a notepad to go down important things you learn on the walk.
