Tales Of Dissent: The Women Of Delhi, Then And Now!

Mostly Delhites will be familiar with basic stories of Old Delhi, Chandni Chowk and Red Fort. But what’s missing from these stories and narratives are the women, the queens, princesses, concubines and eunuchs. Although relegated to the ‘zenanas’ (ladies’ quarters) of the palace, didn’t they achieve anything considerable or consequential?

DelhiByFoot tells you stories of dissent that reflect the dynamic interplay of power witnessed by Indian society since time immemorial. Tales of some women who played an important role in creating many stories of dissent, a glimpse into their challenges and achievements, their lives and loves; and how they created alternative spaces for themselves...spaces that they designed, ruled and held on to, despite resistance; and successfully negotiated this vibrant space to influence the course of history.

Ramit, is co-founder & chief-explorer of DelhiByFoot , a team of passionate Delhi-lovers, a ‘pacca Dilliwalla’ who loves to gorge on all that Delhi has to offer!
