Development Un-Boxing Walk

 

This walk is an insightful way to explore the lanes of Khirkee extension and Jagdamaba Camp, two important homegrown neighbourhoods in the heart of South Delhi from the lens urban transformation. Beginning from across the stretch of malls, the participants will experience these neighbourhoods from the context of equitable and socially inclusive development. The walk will be conclude with a conversation with two social practices that engaged with the community in the neighbourhood. The sights and sounds from this journey may not be the most pleasant but their lessons would remain with you for a long time.

Deeksha Bhatia, has been a part of Swechha India since 2012. Over the last four years, she has extensively worked with children, young people and civil society through campaigns, events and programmes. In the past, she has facilitated walks for schools, corporates and individuals.

Swechha is an organization dedicated to enabling ourselves and others around us to ‘Be the Change’, in making a visible difference to the Environment- both physical and social. Our mission is to inspire, create and support - a just, equitable and sustainable society, for everyone and forever. Our genesis was in the year 2000 as the ‘We for Yamuna’ campaign, a collective response to the growing apathy towards one of the most polluted rivers in the world. Since then the organization has gathered popular and powerful voices for the support of this cause and has emerged as the loudest and strongest voice in India on the matter.

Tips: Please wear comfortable walking shoes and carry a bottle of water. As we will walk though a closed neighbourhood, please be respectful and do not take pictures without people’s permission.
