Jahanpanah and Begumpuri Masjid Complex


Let’s explore and walk through the busy village of Begumpur and its monuments. Jahanpanah, which  means “Refuge of the world”, is  the fourth fortified city of Delhi constructed by Mohammad Bin Tughlaq. This walk in the palace complex includes a sufi shrine, a domed building, unknown single–bay arched building and many more constructions from the Lodi period. The palace ruins and Bijay Mandal, Begumpur Masjid from Tughlaq Period.

Walk leader Gaurav was born and brought up in Delhi. Having taken an Honours Degree in History from Dayal Singh College, University of Delhi and subsequently enhanced his passion by Completing INDIA: ART & CULTURE Certificate from National Museum Institute. His experience of working in Art Galleries gave him a fair idea of what Art Connoisseur look A short stint at khalsa College, St.Stephen's college and at Department of History in University of Delhi and long experience of researching on Historical personalities lent him enough credentials to narrate well researched Historical events as well as legends in English, Hindi & Hindustani.

Tips: The complex has steep steps at some points which can be troublesome for small kids and the elderly. Fully covered clothes are advised to avoid scratches from thick vegetation and thorny bushes around.Carry a bottle of water and wear comfortable shoes
